Research & Sponsored Programs
The Office of Research & Sponsored Programs (ORSP) is here to assist faculty and staff with securing external funding and maintaining research compliance.
Mission Statement:
The Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (ORSP) provides support for Southeast Missouri State University’s faculty, staff, and students in research compliance and searching for external funding, developing ideas into compliant and fundable applications, submitting proposals, negotiating awards, and maintaining compliance with institutional and funder rules and regulations.
Vision Statement:
The Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (ORSP) endeavors to demystify the external funding process while embedding integrity and innovation throughout research and sponsored programs at Southeast Missouri State University.
ORSP assists with:
- funding opportunity searches
- proposal development, review, approvals, and submission
- funder and research compliance
- award negotiation
- non-financial post-award deliverables
All proposals that involve the commitment of University resources, including, but not limited to, faculty, staff, students, facilities, or the use of the University name, must be routed through ORSP for official University approvals prior to submission to funding agency or the lead institution (in instances where the University is a subaward on another organization’s proposal).
When a proposal is funded, ORSP will send the necessary information to the Controller’s Office for account setup. The Principal Investigator will then work with the Grants Accountant assigned to manage the award account. The Grants Accountants are responsible for budget and compliance monitoring for externally sponsored projects.
