Field Experiences Technical Assistant — Office of Field Experiences
Higher education has become a meaningful part of my family's story. My two sisters and I were the first in our family to attend and graduate from college, each of us finding our own path at Southeast Missouri State University. I earned a Bachelor of Science in Education and a Master of Arts in Administration—an achievement that felt like the realization of a dream, not just for me, but for the generations before me who made countless sacrifices so we could have that opportunity.
Teaching has always been more than a job for me; it's a passion. I began my career in the classroom, teaching in the Sikeston R-6 Public School District and later in the Scott City R-1 School District. I also had the honor of serving as Principal of St. Denis Catholic School, where I learned the value of leadership, community, and faith in education.
Today, I serve as the Technical Assistant for the Field Experience Office in Educator Preparation at Southeast Missouri State. I truly love my role because it allows me to work closely with students who are on the path to becoming future teachers. Being part of their journey is incredibly rewarding—I remember what it felt like to be in their shoes. Helping them gain the skills and confidence they need for the classroom is something I find deeply fulfilling.
When I’m not working, I enjoy the simple things in life. I live on our Family Century Farm in Scott County, which has been in my husband’s family since 1880. On Fridays, I love eating lunch at Towers Dining—there’s something fun about the atmosphere and seeing students, faculty and staff relax at the end of a busy week. I also make time for self-care and staying active by swimming and lifting at the Rec Center. Whether I'm supporting students, spending time on the farm, or enjoying campus life, I’m grateful for the opportunity to be part of the Fearless Redhawk community.

This would be another C.S. Lewis quote: "You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream."
