Actuary, Longevity Reinsurance - MassMutual — College of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics
Mathematics with an emphasis in actuarial science. The program at SEMO helped me successfully pass my first three preliminary actuarial exams. Many of the courses also included hands-on projects that provided valuable insight into real-world actuarial work, helping me feel well-prepared for my career.
Dr Pradeep Singh and Dr Emmanuel Thompson provided me with immense support throughout my time at Southeast, providing me with a lot of coaching and mentorship.
The most important thing I learned was how to apply analytical thinking to real-world problems—transforming classroom concepts into practical solutions that add value in a professional setting.
Innovative, inclusive, inspiring
Begin taking preliminary actuarial exams as soon as possible—ideally by your sophomore or junior year. Passing even one or two before graduation shows initiative and makes you much more competitive for internships and entry-level jobs.
