Nathan Anderson of Festus, Missouri, and Sophie Martin of Perryville, Missouri, were crowned SEMO’s 2025 Man and Woman of the Year at halftime of the Homecoming football game on Saturday, October 18.
The Man and Woman of the Year award honors exceptional student leaders at SEMO who demonstrate academic excellence, campus involvement and a strong commitment to community service. Candidates must be nominated by a recognized University student organization.

Anderson is a double major in music and musical theatre and was sponsored by the Southeast Missouri State University Marching Band.
“As someone who loves what I do here at SEMO, I am certain that the organizations I’ve been a part of and the connections I’ve made here will remain a piece of my identity for the rest of my life,” said Anderson. “They have shaped who I am and will influence the man I become. Homecoming is a time when we get to celebrate and embrace the passions that were developed and fostered here. It is such a privilege to commemorate that together.”

Martin is a psychology major and was sponsored by Student Government Association.
“I realize Homecoming is an incredibly valuable asset to this campus,” said Martin. “This year, as the President of Student Government Association, I realized there is so much more to Homecoming behind the scenes than a parade and games. It is about bringing the alumni, the community and current students together to celebrate our pride and excitement for our University.”
