It is time once again for the annual evaluation review process.
All performance management forms are available through the workflow system. Employees and supervisors may access the forms at myworkflows.semo.edu.
All employees hired prior to Oct. 1, 2021, should receive an evaluation. Self-evaluations are the first step in the annual review process, and must be submitted online by Dec. 15, 2021. Step-by-step instructions for completing all forms can also be accessed on the Human Resources tab in the Portal at https://portal.semo.edu/web/home-community/human-resources.
During the month of January 2022, supervisors will meet with employees and complete the annual performance appraisal discussions. The supervisor and employee will electronically sign the completed appraisal form and keep a copy for their records. All emails sent during the workflow approval process will come from no-reply@semo.edu, and the subject will list the Annual evaluation for “employee’s’ name”. The form will route through the entire management chain (i.e., supervisor to director/dean to executive). The division executive will remain as the “reviewer.”

Again, staff employees who began their employment after Sept. 30, 2021, have not had a full opportunity to demonstrate meritorious performance and therefore are not required to have an annual performance appraisal this cycle. However, supervisors are encouraged to use the performance appraisal forms for recently hired staff as a means to communicate progress during the probationary period. Select employees, such as grant funded employees whose contract cycles are other than Jan. 1 through Dec. 31, should wait to complete performance appraisals until 30 days prior to the end of the grant cycle.
Employees on a leave of absence:
If you have an employee on an approved leave, please complete the evaluation. When the employee returns, meet with them as soon as possible to review the evaluation. Once the review is complete, signed and approved; please route to Human Resources.
Employee Transfers:
The previous manager and new manager should work together to complete the evaluation. Ultimately, the new manager is accountable for ensuring an evaluation is completed and the results are reviewed with the employee.
