The Office of the President has joined with the Student Organization of Latinos, the Brazilian Student Association, and the Department of Global Cultures and Languages in supporting a fund-raising effort for victims of the earthquake devastation in Ecuador. The Student Organization of Latinos and the Brazilian Student Association will be accepting donations in the University Center from noon to 1 p.m. April 25-29. Donations can also be dropped off at the Department of Global Cultures and Languages, Art Building 203.
All cash and check donations will be given to the American Red Cross for the Ecuador Relief Effort. You can make a check payable to the American Red Cross – with a memo – Ecuador Relief Effort. Remember, 100 percent of your donation will be directed to the Ecuador relief effort if you designate “Ecuador Relief Effort” on the memo line of your check.
Additionally, students will be accepting donations throughout Latino Weekend, including the Brazilian Carnival, hosted by the Brazilian Student Association, at 6 p.m., Friday, April 29 at Centenary United Methodist Church, 300 N. Ellis Street, in Cape Girardeau; or Latino Night, hosted by the Student Organization of Latinos, from 8 p.m. to midnight, Saturday, April 30, in the west gym of the Student Recreation Center-North.
