Southeast officials announced today that on-campus housing is available immediately for students needing housing, including those not currently living on campus. Students needing housing before Monday, Jan. 4, are asked to call University Police at (573) 651-2215, as University offices are closed until then.
The University is concerned about students and members of the University community affected or impacted by swollen rivers throughout our service region, including the Mississippi, Meramec and so many others, said Dr. Carlos Vargas, president of Southeast Missouri. We are asking our students to let us know what we can do to help.
Individuals impacted by flooding who are in need of assistance, whether that be shelter or other necessities, should contact University Police for assistance, he said. When the University reopens on Jan. 4, individuals needing assistance should contact the Dean of Students Office at (573) 986-6888. Additional University counseling services are available by calling (573) 986-6191. In case of a crisis, please contact University Police in the Department of Public Safety at (573) 651-2215.
Additionally, Campus Life and Event Services will compile a list of volunteer opportunities and share this with students and individuals who wish to support cleanup efforts when that time comes, Vargas said.
Spring 2016 semester classes at Southeast are scheduled to begin on Tuesday, Jan. 19.
