The juror for this year’s exhibition Bradley Phillips, professor in Photography & New Media, in the Department of Art and Design at Southeast Missouri State University. Phillips is a photographic artist and educator born in the Greater Los Angeles area and is currently living in southeast Missouri. Having lived coast to coast, he received his BA in Photography at Brooks Institute in Santa Barbara California (2005) and earned an MFA in Visual Studies from the State University of New York at Buffalo (2012). He has exhibited nationally, in group shows internationally, and his work has been featured on the covers of several books, literary journals, and magazines. His work currently focuses on photography as material in opposition to medium. Breaking free from the stereotypical visual expectations of the photographic image, this allows a shift in focus from image to process as performative act and presses against the expectations photographic artists experience by trend or demand.
