Beginning with the fall 2019 academic term, all students accepted by audition into the Southeast Marching Band will receive a $725 scholarship for each season of participation (maximum four fall seasons). Those students that have achieved All-State status will receive $1,000 scholarship for each season of participation (maximum four fall seasons). As an enhancement, members who choose to live on campus for their third or fourth year the Marching Band Scholarship will be converted to a $500 and will receive an additional $2,000 housing scholarship. Students that receive Marching Band Scholarships must be enrolled full-time (12 credit hours minimum) and maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA (music majors must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA).
The Southeast Marching Band seeks performers on Flute/Piccolo, Bb Soprano Clarinet, Saxophone (alto/tenor/baritone), Trumpet, Mellophone, Trombone, Baritone, Sousaphone, Percussion (battery/front ensemble), Colorguard, and Feature Twirler.
Music majors who receive music scholarships must maintain, each semester in residence, a minimum overall Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 and a minimum Grade Point Average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale for music courses. Students whose GPA falls below either minimum will have their scholarship rescinded for the subsequent semester. In addition to the GPA requirement, music majors must maintain full-time enrollment and complete, with a grade of "C" or better, the courses and performing ensembles required of their degree program and/or specified on their scholarship agreement form.
Additionally, music majors must demonstrate satisfactory progress in their applied performance areas as determined by juries and applied music instructors. A music major whose scholarship has been rescinded or not renewed for academic or performance deficiencies may appeal the decision to the Department of Music Recruiting and Scholarship committee. Appeals must be submitted to the Committee in writing with an explanation of mitigating circumstances. The decision of the Scholarship Committee is final. A music major whose scholarship has been rescinded may reapply for a Department of Music scholarship after all academic and performance deficiencies have been corrected.
Music minor scholarships are awarded on the basis of musical and academic accomplishment, potential for future growth, and the needs of the department. Music minors who receive music scholarships must maintain, a minimum overall Grade Point Average of 3.0 each semester in residence. In addition to the GPA requirement, music minor scholarship holders must maintain enrollment in and progress toward the requirements of the music minor. Students not enrolled in required music courses during a particular semester may have their scholarship rescinded or converted to a Music Service Scholarship with a possible adjustment in allocation. Also, students must demonstrate satisfactory progress in their applied performance areas as determined by juries and applied music instructors.

ED019. DANIEL O. DUNAVAN PERCUSSION SCHOLARSHIP
Scholarship will be awarded to an outstanding percussion student. Music Department scholarship rules apply and recipient will be selected by audition by the Music Dept. Scholarship Committee.
EK007. PAUL AND IRENE KINDER
Open to graduates of Jackson High School, with Music majors receiving preference. Entering freshmen must rank at or above the 50th percentile on a recognized college entrance examination and in the upper one-third of their high school class. Financial need is the main consideration. Students with college credit may apply for renewal. Deadline is March 1.
This scholarship fund was established in 1971 by Paul and Irene Miller Kinder, both graduates of Southeast Missouri State University. Mrs. Kinder majored in music, taught music and English in high school and devoted her time to volunteer work. Mr. Kinder was involved in vocational rehabilitation work in the State Department of Education in Jefferson City, and later became Supervisor of the St. Louis Office of Vocational Rehabilitation.
Awards: The Kinder Scholarship is provided for graduates of Jackson High School. Financial need is the main consideration in selecting recipients, with music majors receiving preference. Entering freshman making application must rank on or above the 50th percentile of a recognized college entrance examination and in the upper one-third of their graduating class. Students with college credit may apply for renewal of the award.
EL008. HAROLD LICHTENEGGER MUSIC EDUCATION
Open to students who have completed Block I of the Music Education major with an overall GPA of 3.0. Applicant may be a vocal or instrumental major. Financial need will be a consideration. Deadline is March 1. This scholarship was established in honor and in memory of Harold Lichtenegger, a prominent Southeast Missouri band director.
Awards: Students must be currently enrolled as a Music Education Major at Southeast Missouri State University, seeking a BME (instrumental) degree. They must have completed Block I of the Education Block, have a cumulative GPA of 2.75 and a 3.0 GPA in music classes. They must show financial need (verified by the FAFSA form). The scholarship is renewable but students must reapply.
EL010. BEE S. LIMBAUGH MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Open to students with musical ability, moral character, and demonstrated financial need. Deadline is March 1st. The Bee S. Limbaugh Scholarship Fund was created in December, 1977 by Mr. Rush H. Limbaugh and family in memory of his wife. Mr. Limbaugh was a recipient of the Alumni Merit Award in 1961 and has maintained a close association with Southeast Missouri State University through the years. Because of the family's love for music, the scholarship fund was established to assist students who are enrolled in the music department or desire to attend the University for the purpose of studying music.
Awards: The individual award amount is flexible and will be determined by the Music Department Scholarship and Recruitment committee. All awards will be made in the form of an unconditional cash grant. Awards may be issued to two juniors and two seniors each year. The University Financial Aid Services office will review all nominations to determine eligibility. From the eligible candidates, the Music Department Scholarship and Recruitment Committee will select the recipients of awards. After screening applicants, the Committee may request top applicants to be available for an interview before determining the final selections. Should any person receive the scholarship desire later to repay the funds, the University shall have the right to accept such payment. In that event, the amount repaid shall be added to the principle of the scholarship fund.
EM011. LEROY F. MASON
Open to Music students who are actively involved in the University music program. Auditions must be scheduled by contacting the Department of Music, (573) 651-2553. The scholarship was established in honor of Mr. Leroy Mason, former faculty member of the music department. Mr. Mason began as a member of the Golden Eagles Band and later went on to build the band to one of national fame.
Awards: The scholarship is open to music students actively involved the University music program. Auditions must be scheduled by contacting the department of music. The scholarship is renewable, but students must reapply each year.
EA003. ALEXANDER COUNTY/EDNA WALKER
Open to students from Alexander County, Illinois. Preference will be given to a Music major with a 2.5 GPA. Deadline is March 1.
EC001. PARILEE AND MARCA JEAN CAMPBELL MEMORIAL
Open to a junior or senior student with financial need and a minimum 2.75 GPA majoring in art (fine or performing) or music. Award is renewable as long as recipient maintains eligibility status and such other conditions as are consistent with the University's policies and procedures concerning scholarship awards. Deadline is March 1.
EC022. CHARLES COX MEMORIAL VOCAL SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship was established in 1994 in honor of Southeast graduate Charles Cox who taught at Waynesville High School. The scholarship is to be provided to a student pursuing an education in music with a major in vocal music education. First preference is given to students from Waynesville High School, second preference is given to entering freshman from Cape Central/Notre Dame High Schools, and third preference is given to students from any Southeast Missouri High School. Interest and participation in extracurricular activities will be considered. The applicant must be enrolled full-time and maintain a 2.75 grade point average in order to renew the award. The award is renewable up to 4 years, but the student must reapply each year. The scholarship committee and Robert and Betty Cox reserve the right to award this scholarship to an upper level vocal music education major as long as the individual meets the Teacher Education Program qualifications.
EC036. EDDIE KEYS-BILL SHIVELBINE ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP
Awarded to a student majoring in music or participating in any SEMO State University musical group with financial need as verified by the FAFSA form. Deadline is March 1st.
EC029. SHERYL CROW SCHOOL OF VISUAL & PERFORMING ARTS
Open to students who are pursuing a degree from the College of Arts and Media. Applicants must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher and verified financial need. Applications are available in the Department of Theater and Dance, (573) 651-2149. Deadline is March 1.
EG028. HOMER GILBERT ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP
Awarded to a student majoring in Music. Must have 3.0 cumulative GPA in all areas of study. Deadline is March 1.
EF005. DONALD K. FORD MEMORIAL PERCUSSION
Open to percussion majors who exhibit financial need and have a minimum 3.0 GPA. Preference will be given to those interested in jazz. Awarding process includes an audition. Deadline is March 1. Donald K. Ford was an active percussionist, jazz drummer, and director of the Southeast University Foundation.
Awards: Students must have and maintain a 3.0 GPA, have financial need (verified by the FAFSA form) and audition on a percussion instrument for the music faculty. First preference is given to students who are vitally interested in jazz percussion. The scholarship is renewable for one year.
EW015. MARK WOODS
Open to Music majors with a cumulative 3.0 GPA and a 3.25 GPA in the Music major. Deadline is March 1. The scholarship is automatically renewable. Students do not need to reapply each year.
EG018. DAVID GREEN CLARINET
This scholarship is open to students working on a BME, BM, BA, or BS Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with a concentration in Music. The applicant must have demonstrated proficiency in clarinet, and the clarinet must be the recipient's major performance area. Deadline is March 1.
Dr. David Green was a longtime faculty member of the Department of Music. Dr. Green taught clarinet and saxophone, served as Director of Assessment for the General Education program, and taught the music history sequence. He served many years as principal clarinetist with the Paducah Symphony Orchestra and performed often as a jazz saxophonist and bassist.
EH028. EARL & MARGIE HOLLAND SCHOOL OF VISUAL & PERFORMING ARTS SCHOLARSHIP
Awarded to a student pursuing degrees in Music, Art, Theatre and Dance. Applications are available in the Department of Theater and Dance, (573) 651-2149. Deadline is March 1.
EJ007. MOZELLE CLOUD JARVIS SCHOLARSHIP
Open to student who is a graduate of Sikeston High School and enrolled in Sikeston Regional Campus or main campus of Southeast Missouri State University. First preference is for a student interested in Performing Arts. Deadline is March 1.
EK004. ADENE C. KELLER
Open to a Music student in voice training. For more information, contact the Department of Music at (573) 651-2553. The Adene C. Keller Scholarship was founded in 1997 by Laura St. Ann Keller in memory of her mother. It is to be given to a promising music student in voice training on the advise of the Music Department. First preference is given to a student from Southeast Missouri. It is automatically renewable if the previous year's recipient meets the criteria. The student does not need to reapply.
EL021. RANDY LEINER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Awarded to a resident of Cape Girardeau County or Scott County who is an art or music major. Deadline is March 1.
EM030. BRANDON AND MIRIAM MEHRLE ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP
Open to students majoring in music or participating in any Southeast Missouri State University musical ensemble with financial need as verified by the FASFA form. Deadline is March 1.
ER017. LUDEANNE FOWLER RUZICKA SCHOLARSHIP
Recipient should have interest in pursuing degree in Performing Arts or Music. Faculty and/or alumni advisor may recommend a worthy student, but it is not required. Contact your department for application procedures. Deadline is March 1.
ES040. THE JOHN & ANN SHELTON MUSIC EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP
Awarded to a student with a declared Music Education major, that has either been admitted to the Teacher Education program or is in his/her 2nd semester of the sophomore year. Deadline is March 1.

To be awarded to a music student. Deadline is March 1.
EW007. O. L. WILCOX MEMORIAL
Open to students with music program participation. Applicant does not have to be a Music major. Deadline is March 1. Open to students with music program participation. The student does not have to be a music major.
Auditions
All music students, whether or not they are seeking a scholarships, must auditions to be accepted to their field of study within the music department.
Scholarship Recommendations
Students need to have a music teacher, principal, or private instructor submit the Scholarship Recommendation Form at least two weeks prior to audition.
