The Department of Music at Southeast is proud to announce open auditions for principal roles and chorus members for The Bat’s Revenge (Die Fledermaus) by Johann Strauss, featuring a new translation and adaptation by Josh Shaw, Artistic Director of Pacific Opera Project. Auditions are open to community members and Southeast students.

The Bat’s Revenge is set in early 1930s Hollywood where film producer Freddie Falcone creates an elaborate revenge prank against his best friend, actor and director Gabe Valentine. Falcone secretly invites friends and socialites to a lavish masquerade party held at the mansion of Prince Orlofsky, a Russian diplomat dabbling in the film industry. On the guest list are Gabe’s wife, Rosie Lynne, Rosie’s personal assistant, Adele, who is trying to make it big on the silver screen, Police Chief Frank who wants to rub elbows with Hollywood’s finest, and a delightful assortment of Hollywood partiers.

The cast features many leading and supporting parts for men and women as well as a large and boisterous chorus of partygoers for the masquerade.
