Innovative Academic Spaces 

Holland College of Arts and Media River Campus 

SEMO is home to Missouri’s only college campus entirely dedicated to art, dance, music, and theatre. Inside the River Campus, there are three professional performance venues, Bedell Performance Hall, Rust Flexible Theatre, and the Shuck Music Recital Hall. The River Campus also houses three professional galleries: the Dobbins Center, the Nest Gallery, and the Crisp Museum. Overall, the River Campus is home to more than 100 performances, events, student exhibitions, and BFA shows throughout the year. 

Center for Speech and Hearing 

The Center for Speech and Hearing offers patients speech-language pathology evaluations, audiological evaluations, or speech-language pathology treatment sessions. Our students don’t just observethey’re actively involved in providing care, building the skills and confidence they’ll need from day one on the job. 

Charles Stamp Cyber Command Center:  

SEMO is home to the first IBM cyber command center west of the Mississippi. The center features 27 computer stations, an immersive 27-foot wall display, an observation room, and servers dedicated specifically to the command center, giving students the ability to experience the adrenaline of defining against live cyber attacks in our high-stakes environment. 

Nursing Simulation Lab 

The nursing simulation lab is home to “patient” mannequins designed to replicate a wide range of clinical environments, so students are prepared to treat real patients. With these mannequins, our students can perform physical assessments, administer medications, insert IVs, conduct CPR, and practice other life-saving skills.  

EDvolution Center 

The EDvolution Center gives students hands-on access to the latest tools in digital learning and creation—including classrooms designed for collaboration, a virtual reality room, a podcast studio, mediascape spaces, andThe Sandbox,a dedicated space for coding and robotics. As an Apple Distinguished School, SEMO is committed to preparing students for the tech needs of the 21st century classroom. 

High-Tech Classrooms & Small Class Sizes 

Across campus, classrooms are designed with student success in mind to create interactive and engaging learning environments. For example, the Rust Center for Media houses classrooms that are inside the video production studio, so students can learn in the same space their productions take place.
