If you’re dreaming of a career in tech, or better yet, creating the next big video game hit, there’s never been a more exciting time to be at SEMO with the launch of a brand-new Bachelor of Science in Game Development starting Fall 2025. With a tech-savvy curriculum and intense immersive experiences, SEMO is offering more than just a degree—it’s delivering real return on investment.
This new program dives deep into game-specific programming, storytelling, and design. Whether you want to work at Sony, Microsoft, or the next breakout indie studio, you’ll be learning the skills to make it happen.
Labor Statistics
And the timing? Couldn’t be better. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of software developers is projected to grow 25% from 2022 to 2032, much faster than average. That includes roles in the $184 billion global gaming industry—so there’s a strong job outlook for grads entering the field.
SEMO has a proven track record of job placement. 100% of cybersecurity graduates with internship experience secure employment or continue their education within six months. That success is built on SEMO’s strong industry partnerships with companies like IBM, Mastercard, and AT&T, as well as supportive faculty who bring industry knowledge into the classroom.
Charles Stamp Cyber Command Center
But SEMO isn’t stopping there. With state-of-the-art facilities like the Charles Stamp Cyber Command Center, students are already tackling real-world challenges in cybersecurity and tech development. The addition of game development only expands that horizon.
Through SEMO’s partnership with IBM X-Force Cyber, you’ll gain real-world experience inside a full-scale security operations center. Home to the first Cyber Command Center west of the Mississippi, the Charles Stamp Cyber Command Center immerses students into a high-stake environment where they develop skills in incident response, recovery planning, and vulnerability management. Beyond the classroom, the center serves the community by hosting cybersecurity competitions and business training—preparing you to excel in a rapidly growing field.
Esports Program
Plus, SEMO is home to a thriving Esports program. With over 400 members, it’s the largest recreational club on campus. The Esports Arena is a hotspot for both casual and competitive gamers.
Outside the classroom, you’ll find clubs focused on game development, AI, and programming, where students collaborate, get mentorship, and build real projects that make an impact.
Whether you want to defend against cyber threats, design epic gaming adventures, or just meet others who share your passion, SEMO is building the launchpad you need.
