University School for Young Children
The University School for Young Children is a nationally accredited early childhood education center open to the University faculty, staff, students, and the community. The USYC is an academic center that provides training and education to students in early childhood education, child development and psychology for professional careers.

Our Philosophy
At the University School for Young Children, we believe in creating an environment that promotes active, experiential learning and reflection for learners of all ages. We support positive development by providing stimulating learning environments with rich opportunities for growth and discovery. Our philosophy is grounded in knowledge and theory in child development, early childhood education, and developmentally appropriate practices. We respect all individuals and support the unique abilities and perspectives each brings. We value families and the community and appreciate the multiple contexts that impact development and growth.
Curriculum
The University School for Young Children uses The Creative Curriculum along with other tools and philosophies that are grounded in child development research and theory. For the preschool students, we also include the Missouri Pre-K Standards to guide our curriculum and assessment.
