Department Scholarships

Open to full-time undergraduates entering their senior year at Southeast Missouri State and majoring in social studies, with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0. Students with financial need will be given preference. 

Awarded to a student with interest in working with the historic collections in the Special Collections & Archives at Kent Library, as demonstrated in an essay submitted with the student's application. Preference given to student pursuing either a major or minor in historic preservation. An archival project will be assigned to the award recipient by the award committee and the spring semester award will be contingent upon satisfactory progress toward completion of project.

Open to juniors pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in history, a Bachelor of Science in Education in social studies, or a Bachelor of Science in historic preservation, with a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA and no grade lower than a B.  Applicants must submit a current transcript and three letters of recommendation focusing on their potential for academic success. Selection is made solely based on merit.

Open to historic preservation majors with a 2.5 GPA.  Preference will be given to high school graduates of the city of Ste. Genevieve, Ste. Genevieve County, Wayne County, Perry County, St. Francois County, the southeast Missouri region, and the state of Missouri, in that order.

Open to second-year historic preservation majors who maintain a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA.

Open to students with a cumulative 3.0 GPA and demonstrated financial need.  Applicants must be pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in history and must have successfully completed 12 hours of history at SEMO with no grade lower than a B before applying for the scholarship. Selection will be based on a demonstrated interest and experience in the history of southeast Missouri.

Preference will be given: first to full or part-time students who have a direct working association with Old Town Cape or own or work for a downtown business or organization; second to full or part-time students who have an indirect association with Old Town Cape or an immediate relative who owns or works in a downtown business or organization; and third to students majoring in historic preservation.

Open to historic preservation majors with a cumulative 3.0 GPA who are dedicated to their field.  First preference will be given to juniors, and second preference to seniors.

Open to students with a minimum 3.0 GPA in all University courses taken, who have a demonstrated interest in, and are involved in studying the history of southeast Missouri, who are either undergraduate students entering their junior or senior year with a minimum of 12 hours of history credits at SEMO or graduate students pursuing a Master of Arts in historical research. The selected candidate will be required to submit historical research on the history of southeast Missouri on a topic assigned by the director of the Center for Regional History and agreed upon by the director and the recipient.

Open to undergraduates with 15 credit hours and a cumulative 2.5 GPA. Applicants must be enrolled in history or the historic preservation program with an emphasis in local or regional history and have a FAFSA on file.

Applicants must be from the southeast Missouri area, be majoring in historic preservation, and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.

Open to members of Phi Alpha Theta pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in history, with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0. 

The recipient of this scholarship will be a student enrolled at Southeast Missouri State University with a major in the department.

Recipient must have financial need with a 3.0 or better GPA and be a major in the Department of Anthropology, History, and Political Science at Southeast Missouri State University. First preference goes to a freshman student majoring in the department with a 3.0 or better GPA showing financial need. Second preference goes to any level student who is majoring in the department with a 3.0 or higher GPA showing financial need.

The scholarship will be awarded to an undergraduate student attending Southeast Missouri State University majoring in Political Science or a graduate student in the MPA program with a 3.0 or greater GPA.

The recipient will be a full-time student with a minimum 3.0 GPA, who has demonstrated his/her intention to attend law school and who received the grade of B or better in Constitutional Law (PS 490).
