Art Studios
Fearlessly explore your creativity in our art studio spaces.
Every artist needs a space to create. At SEMO, we provide many different types of art studios so you can get your project work or practice in. Night owl? That's OK, these studio spaces are open until midnight!
2D Foundation Studio

The 2D Foundation Studio is located in the Dobbins Center at the SEMO River Campus with Apple computers, a digital projector with airplay, two and three-dimensional media and equipment, a spray booth, drying racks, storage lockers, and educational resources.
Sculpture Studios
The sculpture studios consist of a metal shop, wood shop, mixed-media studio, in-use gallery, and upper-level sculpture student studios. The metal shop is equipped with arc and MIG welders, plasma cutter, oxy-acetylene torch, chop saw, hydraulic shear, swivel bending machine, slip roll, sand blasting cabinet, and hand tools. The wood shop is equipped with a table saw, miter saw, band saw, panel saw, stationary sanders, drill press, drum sander, jointer, lathe, and hand tools. The mixed-media studio is for less machine-intensive processes, such as found object manipulation, multimedia installation, digital image and sound projection, and performance.
Studio spaces are available for upper-level sculpture students and migration between studios is strongly encouraged.

Located across the street from main campus at 835 Broadway Blvd., Suite 100. The ceramics studio is equipped with 15 electric pottery wheels, a slab roller, three electric kilns, a large gas kiln, a fully stocked glaze room, a ball mill, a large spray booth, and a pug mill. To ensure the safety of students, access to the ceramics studio is limited to only enrolled students with a key card.
Computer Studio
The computer studio is equipped with 21, 27-inch iMac computer stations. Each workstation is outfitted with the complete Adobe Creative Suite, Epson Perfection V750, and a Wacom tablet. Students have access to a large-format Epson scanner, color laser printers, Canon DSLR cameras with production equipment, iPads, a ZOOM H4n Handy Recorder microphone, and studio lighting equipment.
Paper, Book, and Fibers Studio
The paper, book, and fibers studio is equipped for bookmaking and off-loom construction.
Drawing Studio
The drawing studio is equipped for basic, intermediate, and advanced drawing, with a state-of-the-art lighting system, generous display/critique boards, high ceilings, and storage space for student work and supplies.
About Studio Access
If you want to use the studio facilities after hours, you will need to purchase a key card for the semester, and will have to work with a professor to access a particular studio. This access also includes holidays during the semester. If you are interested in a room that does not have keycard access, check the schedule for each room, and keep your SEMO I.D. on you.
