Internships

Internships bridge the gap between college and career. As an intern, you'll be part of a professional organization where you'll contribute to real projects, collaborate with experienced professionals, and gain hands-on experience that strengthens your résumé and portfolio.

Mass Media majors and minors may enroll in MC486 for one, two, or three hours of academic credit. Leave pre-req info as listed.

Pre-requisites for the MC486 internship course

Successful completion of at least 60 hours
Successful completion of 12 hours of mass communication courses from a single curricular option not included in the core
Minimum University GPA of 2.5
Minimum Department GPA of 2.75

Practicums

Practicum courses give students the opportunity to apply their skills through supervised, hands-on professional experiences. Whether you're producing media projects for the University, developing your artistic practice, or preparing a senior exhibition, practica connect classroom learning with real-world application while helping you build your portfolio and professional confidence.

Mass Media (MC496)

Work on professional projects that serve the University community while gaining practical experience in media production, communication, and creative problem-solving. Students may earn three hours of academic credit.

Successful completion of at least 60 hours
Successful completion of 12 hours of mass communication courses from a single curricular option not included in the core
Minimum University GPA of 2.5
Minimum Department GPA of 2.5

Art & Design (AR389 Practicum I)

Explore the professional practice of visual art through hands-on experiences in career development, entrepreneurship, exhibition preparation, marketing, and the business of being a working artist. May be repeated for credit.

Art & Design (AR490 Practicum II)

Complete your Bachelor of Fine Arts senior project through an intensive practicum focused on developing, refining, and presenting a professional body of creative work.
