SEMO Supper Club is a volunteer opportunity for our international students to connect with SEMO faculty and staff in a memorable, meaningful way over the course of a semester.

In the program, SEMO faculty/staff volunteer to be Supper Club hosts. The hosts are assigned a small group of international students whom they will host for at least two meals over the course of the semester. The goal of the program is simple - connection. We hope this will be an opportunity to facilitate conversation, cultural sharing, and hospitality.

A few notes about the program:

  • Hosts will be asked the maximum number of students they can host for a meal.
  • It is up to the host to plan and schedule meals at times that are convenient for the group members.
  • Hosts don't need to cook a full meal. Meeting for a casual dinner, coffee/tea with snacks is perfectly fine.
  • SEMO Supper Club is a cultural sharing opportunity. Groups may want to plan and cook meals together to learn about different foods from around the world.
  • The sign-up forms ask questions about pets at home, dietary restrictions, transportation needs, and other questions. Every effort will be made to match hosts and students with appropriate partners.
  • SEMO Supper Club assignments are for one semester. While we do hope long-term friendships will be made that continue after the semester, we will make new assignments for SEMO Supper Club each semester.
  • For the time being, hosting opportunities are only open to SEMO faculty and staff. Community members interested in hosting can contact international@semo.edu.
