Don’t wait to start earning bachelor’s degree credit. In the English Program Pathway, you’ll start your academic major while you’re building confidence and English skills.

Qualified students enjoy specialized advising services and advanced English language courses. In the  English Program Pathway, you’ll enjoy a complete learning experience that starts you on a pathway to university success.

Getting Started

The English Program Pathway is for you if:

  • You meet the SEMO admission requirements for a bachelor’s degree. 
  • You meet the English Program Pathway English language requirement (choose one).
    • IELTS Academic: 5.0
    • TOEFL iBT: (test date before January 21, 2026): 52 - 60
    • TOEFL iBT (test date on or after January 21, 2026): 3.0
    • PTE Academic: 40-43
    • Duolingo English Test: 80-90
    • Michigan English Test: 45
    • Oxford English Language Levels Test (ELLT Global and ELLT Digital): 5
  • You want to take courses with other SEMO students and experience a US university.
  • You want to improve your English skills with professional, supportive teachers.
  • You will start your studies in August or January.

Classes

Your Pathway advisor will help you make a schedule that’s best for your English level and goals. Most English Program Pathway students take 12 credit hours in their first semester:

  • 4 Intensive English courses (8 credit hours)
  • 1 Academic course (3 credit hours)
  • First-Year Seminar (1 credit hour)
