Educator Preparation Program
Admission Requirements
Before you can apply for student teaching, you will need to meet a set of academic requirements. These include a certain number of credit hours, GPA standards, and grades in specific courses.
Educator Preparation Program Application
Undergraduate
- Minimum of 30 course hours completed
- Have a GPA of 2.5 or higher
- Complete a Background Check
- Contact the Candidate Status & Certification Officer (csco@semo.edu) for instructions
- A grade of “C” or higher in CF/PY120 – The Child (for Elementary, Early, and Exceptional programs) or PY222 – Development of the Adolescent or PY220 – Psychological Development Across the Life Span (for Middle, Secondary, and K-12 programs).
Graduate (Master of Arts in Teaching)
- Completion of a BA or BS in Content Area
- 2.5 or higher Undergraduate GPA
- Complete a Background Check
- Contact the Candidate Status & Certification Officer (csco@semo.edu) for instructions
- Completion of EX390/635 Psychology and Education of Children with Exceptionalities, and either CF/PY120 – The Child (for Elementary, Early, and Exceptional programs), or PY222 – Development of the Adolescent (Middle, Secondary, and K-12 programs), or PY220 – Psychological Development Across the Life Span.
- Passage of the Praxis exam in content area
International Students must also meet the following requirements:
- C1 (CEFER) Level
- Minimum IELTS scores of 7.0, TOEFL iBT scores of 95, PTE scores of 64, or Duolingo score of 125.
