Just Because, an Exhibition of Photographs by Erika Wrzesinski, will be on view Friday, September 4 through Friday, October 30 in the Wolz Ruzicka Hallway Gallery in the ARX Building on the River Campus.

Erika Wrzesinski is a graphic designer/digital artist living and working in Southern Illinois. She currently works as a production artist in apparel, signage, and promotional product design. She graduated from Southeast Missouri State University in 2020 with a BFA and an emphasis in Digital Art. Currently, she’s getting back into making art for herself and as a way to bring creativity and joy into everyday life.

According to Wrzesinski, “The work for this exhibition came out of my desire to rekindle my joy in the process of making art. For the past five years, I have been working full-time as a graphic designer. This experience has been incredibly rewarding, and I have learned so much, however, I had little time to make art. Recently, after a challenging year, I decided the only way to make art was to MAKE ART. The works in the exhibition are colorful and bright and showcase glitch adjacent effects similar to the work I made in college, which did and continues to bring me joy. This exhibition is a celebration of finding the happiness in creating again.”

An opening reception for Just Because will take place on Friday, September 4 from 5-7 p.m.

All exhibitions are free and open to the public. For more information, please contact Dr. Joni Hand at jhand@semo.edu.
