Dr. Stephen Schultheis has been named vice president of Enrollment Management and Student Success at Southeast Missouri State University. Schultheis was one of four finalists who visited campus in November, following a nationwide search with 50 candidates reviewed.
Schultheis brings wealth of experience to the role. He has 24 years of experience in higher education with a variety of leadership positions in enrollment management, academic affairs and student affairs. Schultheis was most recently vice president for enrollment management and chief enrollment officer at Middle Georgia State University. He’s also held positions at Clayton State University and Monroe College.SEMO President Brad Hodson said Schultheis has a record of successful enrollment management during a long career in higher education, demonstrating experience and expertise that will benefit the University in a challenging enrollment landscape.
“Since 1873, SEMO has held its ground as a place of learning, resilience, and growth for our students. I believe Dr. Schultheis’ experience will help position the University for continued success during a time when everything about education is changing,” said Dr. Hodson. “SEMO really has a wonderful story to tell about what we can offer to students and a record of delivering, and I am eager to work with Dr. Schultheis to tell that story.”
Schultheis has a Doctor of Education from St. John Fisher College, a Master of Arts in higher education administration from Columbia University, and a Bachelor of Science from Valparaiso University.
“I’m looking forward to working with Dr. Hodson and the SEMO community to build upon the University’s established excellence as we chart an ambitious course for the future,” said Schultheis.
Schultheis will assume his new duties January 14, 2026.
