Competitions

SEMO students regularly put their problem-solving skills to work in regional and national math competitions. These events range from individual contests, where students tackle challenging problems on their own, to team-based competitions that emphasize collaboration, strategy, and communication. SEMO also hosts contests for area elementary, middle, and high school students, creating opportunities for younger learners to experience the excitement and connect with our faculty and students on campus.

    Mathematics Placement

    Every SEMO student completes at least one mathematics course, and placement is designed to help you start in the class that best fits your background and your major. Your initial placement is based on your ACT Math subscore or SAT Math score, with additional options available if you need to adjust your placement in consultation with an advisor.     Math Learning Center

    At SEMO you're never expected to face challenges alone. There are offices and opportunities across campus to help you overcome whatever obstacle is in front of you. The Mathematics Learning Center is one of those places. It's staffed with faculty, graduate assistants, and other students just like you. You do not need an appointment, so just stop by when you have questions, and someone will be there to help.
