Southeast’s University Marketing and University Communications departments are coming together in a recently completed reorganization. The restructure will better align the University’s strategic messaging and streamline management of the wide variety of communication channels used today.
Combining the roles of the director of University Marketing and director of University Communications resulted in the creation of an assistant vice president for marketing and communications. Effective April 4, Tonya Wells will lead the newly reorganized team as the assistant vice president for marketing and communications in the division of enrollment management and student success. Marketing and Communications (MarCom) will be responsible for the University’s brand strategy, strategic communications, social media, inbound marketing, emergency communications, media and public relations, website, digital marketing, photography, videography, and all other creative marketing and promotions.
Combining the roles of University Marketing’s two project managers resulted in the creation of a director of creative marketing strategy. Also effective April 4 and following an internal search, Dana Saverino has accepted the position and will lead the work of two creative teams and the semo.edu website designer.
“Our new Marketing and Communications team will be able to much more efficiently and effectively tell the SEMO story,” said Dr. Carlos Vargas, president of Southeast Missouri State University. “While the reorganization has resulted in fewer positions, the alignment of these two teams will allow us to leverage their strengths to bring greater visibility, more consistent messaging, and an integrated approach to our marketing and communications.”
“We are excited to combine the work of strategic communications with our marketing efforts to provide the best information possible to all our audiences and to share just how special SEMO is, what a smart investment we are, how our students launch extraordinary careers, and highlight the dedication of our faculty and staff,” said Wells.
