Paul Thompson and Dr. Sara Edgerton[/caption]The Department of Music at Southeast Missouri State University presents a Chamber Music Concert for Flute, Cello and Piano May 1 at Southeasts River Campus.The Concert will feature Southeast faculty members Dr. Sara Edgerton, cello, and Paul Thompson, piano, joined by guest Dr. James Thompson, flute, in an eclectic program of chamber music.The Concert is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in the Robert F. and Gertrude L. Shuck Music Recital Hall. Face coverings will be required, and social distancing guidelines will be in place.The program will include Hamburg Sonata by C.P.E. Dr. James Thompson[/caption]A highlight of the program will be Danza de la Mariposa for solo flute by Valerie Coleman, a notable African American flautist and composer.Guest artist Dr. James Thompson has performed on three continents in venues ranging from the Walt Disney Concert Hall to medieval Italian churches and the Great Wall of China. He has won theNational Flute Associations Graduate Research and Masterclass competitions and appeared as a concerto soloist with the New Chicago Chamber Orchestra, Southern Illinois Symphony, Ball State University Symphony Orchestra and Illinois State University Symphony Orchestra.
