The Center for Behavioral Health and Accessibility will launch a new program Feb. 3 to engage students by providing informal, walk-in consultations with counselors at various sites across campus."Let's Talk SEMO" will offer weekly consultation opportunities on Wednesdays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Fridays noon to 2 p.m. Students may discuss a variety of concerns, and no topic is off limits. This spring, "Let's Talk SEMO" consultations will take place at the River Campus (location to be determined) and in the University Center Program Lounge. The program's goal is to have more sites, hours and days per week to meet the need of all students as the semester progresses."Lets Talk SEMO" is not formal counseling and is not intended to be a substitute for mental health treatment. Rather, it is a convenient drop-in service where students can have an informal, confidential consultation with a counselor and receive professional support and guidance.Let's Talk SEMO" consultations are:

• FREE for Southeast students
• Offered first-come, first-served (no appointment necessary)
• Typically about 15-20 minutes in length.
• Confidential, and visitors remain anonymous.
• Informal, and not a substitute for formal counseling.
• Not appropriate for urgent concerns or mental health emergencies.

"Lets Talk SEMO" is not designed to provide crisis support. If you or someone you know is in a crisis or emotional distress, call (573) 986-6191 to speak with a counselor, or after hours, call DPS at (573) 651-2215 for a crisis coordinator on call.The Lets Talk walk-in model was developed and implemented by Cornell University, Gannett Health Services in Ithaca, New York. This program has been nationally recognized for its success in increasing student access to mental health care. This model has been adopted by nearly 100 universities and colleges nationwide.
