Alexys Bergschneider, a senior from Springfield, Missouri, and Justin Tuschhoff, a senior from Cape Girardeau, Missouri, were crowned the 2020 Man and Woman of the Year during Southeast Missouri State Universitys 2020 Spirit Week celebrations.
Bergschneider, who is pursuing a degree in communication disorders, was sponsored by the SEMO Sundancers where she has served as a captain for the past two years. She is a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority, and has previously served as the Vice President of Membership. Bergschneider is the daughter of Julie Synder of Springfield, Illinois, and Chris Bergschneider of New Berlin, Illinois.
Tuschhoff, who is pursuing degrees in biomedical sciences and psychology, was sponsored by the Student Government Association (SGA), where he currently serves as senior senator for Southeasts College of Education, Health and Human Services. He has previously served as chair of SGAs Student Issues Committee. In addition to the SGA, he is vice president of the Interfraternity Councils Community Service and Philanthropy Committee, and Phi Delta Theta fraternitys risk manager. Tuschhoff is the son of Jeanine Lively and Bradley Tuschhoff, both of Cape Girardeau.
The Man and Woman of the Year award recognizes outstanding student leaders at Southeast. Candidates for the award are sponsored, i.e. nominated, by a University student organization. The winners are selected based on their academic achievement, campus involvement and service to the community.
