Enjoy a night on Broadway with students from Southeast Missouri State University as they act, sing and dance at The Jeanine Larson Dobbins Conservatory of Theatre and Dances Extravaganza on March 21.
The Extravaganza will be held at the Isle Casino Cape Girardeau Events Center with a 5:30 p.m. social, followed by dinner at 6 p.m. and performances at 7 p.m.
This years entertainment will bring The Big Apple to Cape Girardeau, with a showcase of work and talent highlighting plays and performances from Broadway in New York City. Southeast students will perform dance concert pieces and musical theatre songs in a variety of genres.
This is a great night for family, friends and fans of The Conservatory to see our bright and talented student stars, said Dr. Kenn Stilson, chair of the Conservatory. This is also a great opportunity to meet our student performers, learn how the River Campus is helping to launch their careers and how to support their dreams. Our student performers have such amazing gifts, and this is a wonderful evening of entertainment, food and drinks.
Bachelor of Fine Arts majors display their skills and talents at the event, which serves as the primary fund-raiser to send graduating seniors to New York or Los Angeles later in the spring. There, they will participate in a series of master classes, showcase their talents, and network with agents, managers and casting directors at a private reception as they launch their careers in theatre and dance. Additionally, the funds support student participation in national and regional workshops, and assist the Conservatory in hosting workshops and guest artists.
Sponsors of the Extravaganza are Isle Casino Cape Girardeau, SoutheastHEALTH, Saxony Village and Commerce Bank.
Tickets are $50 per person, $375 for tables of eight, or $475 for a VIP table of eight. Seating is limited. To purchase tickets and to RSVP, visitsemo.edu/showcasegive or call (573) 651-2149.
