Southeast Missouri State Universitys Department of Music will present Pauline Viardots opera Cinderella Friday, Jan. 19, at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Jan. 21, at 3 p.m. in the Donald C. Bedell Performance Hall at the River Campus.Cinderella is a timeless story with beautiful music, said Christopher Goeke, professor of music at Southeast. There is music, drama, dance, visual art in scenery, costume, and lighting designs, and even some animation. Audiences can expect a wonderful story from our talented students in the Department of Music and The Conservatory of Theatre and Dance.Cinderella is a charming and intimate setting of Perraults fairy tale. First performed in 1904, the opera is filled with beautiful melodies reminiscent of Chopin and Tchaikovsky. The story of Cinderella and her prince is complete with slipper, evil step-sisters, and an effervescent fairy guiding the path to true love.Cinderella will be performed in English, with super-titles and will also feature orchestral accompaniment, period sets and costumes, and an extra ballroom scene.TicketsTickets may be purchased by contacting the River Campus Box Office, located in the Cultural Arts Center, 518 S.
