The award recipient, Grant Eudy of Cape Girardeau, graduated from Southeast in May 2014 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a major in accounting. He is the only recipient of the award in the state of Missouri. Eudy graduated with a perfect 4.0 grade point average and is now employed with Beussink, Hey & Roe, PC in Cape Girardeau. Hewill be honored for his achievement by the Missouri Society of CPAs at their annual meeting in November in St. Louis.

I am really proud to receive this award and bring some recognition to SEMO, Eudy said. I honestly believe that SEMOs Harrison College of Business can stand up next to any business school in this country, and that is a testament to the faculty at SEMO. I dont want to single out any one teacher because I truly appreciate the dedication displayed by all of my professors to the future success of their students.

Eudy came to Southeast as a National Merit Finalist and the 2010 valedictorian of Notre Dame Regional High School in Cape Girardeau. He is the son of Kyle and Debbie Eudy of Cape Girardeau.

The Elijah Watt Sells Award is given to CPA candidates who have obtained a cumulative average score above 95.50 across all four sections of the Uniform CPA Examination, passed all four sections of the examination on their first attempt and completed testing in 2015. A total of 93,742 individuals sat for the examination in 2015, with just 75 candidates meeting the criteria to receive the Elijah Watt Sells Award.

This years winners earned the Elijah Watt Sells Award for their truly extraordinary performance on the CPA Exam, saidMichael Decker, AICPA vice president of examinations. On behalf of the AICPA, Id like to congratulate the winners on their accomplishment and wish them the best of luck throughout their careers in the profession.

Dr. Gary Johnson, associate dean of the Donald L. Harrison College of Business and professor of accounting, said, In 30 plus years of teaching accounting, no student performed at the level of Grant Eudy. Grant’s ability to process complex accounting transactions quickly and accurately was truly phenomenal. No doubt he will represent the accounting profession with the same level of excellence. I applaud his CPA Exam performance.

Dr. Gerald McDougall, dean of the Donald L. Harrison College of Business, added, This award recognizing outstanding achievement on the CPA exam reflects the hard work and dedication of Mr. Eudy and the excellent instruction provided by our accounting faculty who have put in place a curriculum that is on par with programs nationwide.

The Elijah Watt Sells Award program was established by the AICPA in 1923 to recognize outstanding performance on the CPA Examination. Sells, one of the first CPAs in the United States, was active in the establishment of the AICPA and played a key role advancing professional education within the profession.

In addition to education and experience requirements, the CPA Exam plays a crucial role ensuring that individuals who earn their CPA license have demonstrated the skills and knowledge necessary to protect the public interest in an increasingly complex and ever-changing business and financial environment.
