Southeast Missouri State University sponsors one charter public Local Educational Agencies (LEAs) consisting of Pr K, one elementary school, one middle school and one high school in St. Louis, Missouri.
A charter school is an independent public school that operates under a contract, (referred to as the "charter") with its sponsor, usually a public entity such as a state university. The Academy, located in what was originally the Manufacturers Bank and Trust building, then later a Mercantile Bank, was established to provide an education to middle school students. The school expanded first to the high school level and then in 2019 opened an elementary school. The academy now serves over 750 students in grades PK-12.
