Douglas McEldowney has been named director of Facilities Management (FM) at Southeast Missouri State University.

The FM director leads a comprehensive organization responsible for engineering, maintenance, utilities, capital project support, and ensuring campus facilities and infrastructure support the University’s mission, strategic priorities, and long-term goals.
“Doug brings a broad knowledge of facilities operations from a career in energy and the military,” said Vice President for Finance and Administration Dr. Corey Bradford. “He has a clear vision for the role, a strong commitment to the teams he leads, and a proven data-driven management approach.”
McEldowney currently serves as the facilities and site services maintenance division senior staff specialist for Battelle Energy Alliance at the Idaho National Laboratory, the U.S.’s primary center for nuclear energy, research, development, and demonstration. Prior to that, he had a 15-year career in facilities and logistics with the Army National Guard in Nevada and California.
He holds a Master of Science in management from the University of Maryland University College and a Bachelor of Arts in English from Loyola Marymount University.
“I’m eager to begin this new opportunity at SEMO,” said McEldowney. “I was impressed by the campus and the teams I had an opportunity to meet, and I look forward to contributing to the important projects and work ahead. My family and I were warmly welcomed and happy to become part of the community.”
McEldowney will begin on November 9 to allow for an overlap period with the current interim director of facilities management, Bill Hooper.
“We appreciate Bill’s leadership and contributions over the past eight months as interim director, particularly during a period of significant activity and numerous ongoing projects across the University,” said Bradford. “We are excited to welcome Doug to the SEMO family and look forward to working with him to strengthen and enhance our campus infrastructure and aesthetics.”
