Southeast Missouri State University has been named to the Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) 2026 Transfer Honor Roll, a national recognition honoring four-year colleges and universities that demonstrate exceptional success in supporting community college transfer students.
“Students who transfer to SEMO bring valuable experiences with them,” said Brooke Lockhart, associate director of SEMO’s Transfer Center. “Our role is to help them build on that foundation by making the transition as seamless as possible and connecting them with the opportunities and support they'll need to finish their degree.”
The Transfer Honor Roll evaluates colleges and universities across five areas that contribute to transfer student success: student outcomes, transfer credit applicability, financial support, recruitment and admissions practices, and campus engagement and support services.
According to PTK, this year’s recognized institutions averaged a 77% bachelor’s degree completion rate for transfer students, applied an average of 88% of transferred credits toward degree completion and provided merit-based financial aid to an average of 76% of transfer students.
Phi Theta Kappa President and CEO Dr. Lynn Tincher-Ladner said the recognition reflects institutions that intentionally create policies, practices and campus cultures that help transfer students thrive after they arrive.
SEMO continues to strengthen partnerships with community colleges and expand transfer pathways designed to help students transition smoothly, stay on track toward graduation and prepare for successful careers.
