“Each spring, Greek Week shows just how powerful the fraternity and sorority community can be when united by a shared mission,” said Dr. Bruce Skinner, associate vice president for Student Life. “It reflects the leadership, compassion and service that define SEMO’s fraternity and sorority life. When chapters come together with a common purpose, they inspire meaningful change, strengthen campus spirit and extend support far beyond university borders.”

Greek Week Successes

• The 2025 Greek Week resulted in 335 units of blood donated to the American Red Cross, potentially saving more than 1,000 lives.
• The second annual Polar Plunge fundraiser brought in more than $20,000 for the Special Olympics of Southeast Missouri.
• Donation drives collected over 3,000 articles of clothing for the Safe House for Women and Street Level, plus 2,700 non-perishable food items for the Redhawk Food Pantry.
• SEMO’s Greek students raised an additional $5,900 for other philanthropies across the area.

“Our long-standing partnership with the American Red Cross continues to make a major impact,” said Skinner. “Coupled with strong student support for the Redhawk Food Pantry, we’re proud to see our fraternity and sorority community come together to serve both the campus and the region in meaningful ways.”Beyond fundraising and donations, SEMO’s Greek week also engages students with educational and advocacy experiences. The Walk-A-Mile in Their Shoes event, co-hosted by Interfraternity Council (IFC) and Collegiate Panhellenic Council (CPC), featured a presentation from Obbie West, a spoken word artist and advocate who challenged the audience to reflect on consent and the stigma surrounding sexual violence.

“Greek Week is one of the most anticipated traditions on our campus, and every year our fraternity and sorority members rise to the occasion,” said Logan Holloway, graduate assistant for the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life. “We’re incredibly proud of their leadership, passion and commitment to making a difference on campus and beyond.”
