Southeast Missouri State University will celebrate its annual Giving Day on March 20, 2025. This single day giving campaign encourages alumni, faculty, staff, students and friends of the University to make a collective impact by supporting areas across campus.
Donors can choose to contribute to specific programs, scholarships or initiatives that resonate with them. This year, the University aims to raise $360,000 to support student success and campus initiatives.
“SEMO Giving Day is a powerful reminder of the generosity and dedication of the University community,” said Wendell Snodgrass, vice president of university advancement and executive director of the Southeast Missouri University Foundation. “Every gift—no matter the size—helps us create meaningful opportunities for our students and continue SEMO’s tradition of excellence.”
In addition to fundraising efforts, the University Foundation and the Alumni Association will host three events throughout the day to engage community members, alumni and friends. To kick off Giving Day, there will be a "Grab N Go Breakfast" in Kem Statuary Hall from 7-8:30 a.m., light lunch bites at Carson's in Sikeston, MO, from noon-1:30 p.m., and SEMO Night in St. Louis at Helen Fitzgerald's Irish Grill & Pub from 6-8 p.m. Registration for these events is encouraged.
“Giving Day is a chance to come together as a community and celebrate the impact we can have when we give back,” said Kristen Seabaugh, the annual fund coordinator for University Advancement. “We created these events so donors can engage with the SEMO community, connect with students and faculty and experience the difference their support makes.”
Throughout the day, donors can participate in challenges and matching gift opportunities to maximize their impact. The Giving Day online platform will provide real-time updates on fundraising progress and showcase various campus projects in need of support. Annual Fund student representatives and Southeast Missouri University Foundation staff will also be calling alumni and friends throughout the day.
SEMO’s social media channels will track Giving Day progress. Watch the excitement at @semissouristate on Instagram and Facebook.
SEMO Giving Day is part of the Southeast Missouri University Foundation’s Transforming Lives comprehensive campaign. The campaign includes four pillars—athletics, facilities, technology and academics—donors can choose to donate to any of the pillars, individual projects, or some fun Giving Day exclusives like getting to name a campus squirrel. Donating $18.73 or more will get donors a certificate with a photo and their squirrel’s name, as well as a convenient option to share on social media. This honorary title celebrates donors' generosity—no squirrel wrangling required. Naming a SEMO squirrel goes towards the University fund which go to areas of the greatest need. The Transforming Lives campaign has currently reached 86% of its $60 million goal.
