Board Grants Faculty Tenure, Promotion and Merit Designations

The Southeast Missouri State University Board of Governors granted post-professorial merit to 12 faculty members and promoted 3 faculty members to the rank of professor and 15 to the rank of associate professor with tenure. In addition, 11 faculty members received non-tenure track merit.

The action came during a closed session meeting of the Board and was based on reviews by appropriate review bodies. All merit, promotion and tenure designations are effective with the 2024-2025 academic year.

Faculty members promoted to the rank of associate professor with tenure in their designated department are:

  • Fidel Atuo – Department of Biology
  • Moretta Burk – Department of Nursing
  • Vera Campbell-Jones – Department of Nursing
  • Sara Garner – Department of Child and Family Studies
  • Kitt Lavoie – Dobbins Conservatory of Theatre and Dance
  • George Li – Department of Computer Science
  • Xiaoming Liu – Department of Computer Science
  • Dixie McCollum – Department of Elementary, Early, and Special Education
  • Reshmi Mitra – Department of Computer Science
  • Amy Moore – Department of Allied Health, Kinesiology, and Sport Sciences
  • Kevin Musgrave – Department of Communication Studies and Modern Languages
  • Robert Ruggiero – Department of Biology
  • Kyle Schneider - Department of Allied Health, Kinesiology, and Sport Sciences
  • Sajan Silwal – Department of Chemistry and Physics
  • David Tomchuk - Department of Allied Health, Kinesiology, and Sport Sciences

Faculty members promoted to the rank of professor in their designated department are:
