Southeast Missouri State University honored faculty and staff at the 2024 Excellence in Advising, Student Success, and Teaching Celebration on Tuesday, April 23.

OUTSTANDING ACADEMIC ADVISOR AWARDS

One professional and one faculty advisor is chosen every year to be recognized as an Outstanding Academic Advisor. The award winners are then nominated for the National Academic Advising Association’s (NACADA) Outstanding Advising Awards.

“Our Outstanding Academic Advisor award winners truly put their students’ needs first,” said Amanda Eller, director of Academic Advising. “Joanna Shaver and Dr. Samantha Siemers are two advisors who have a passion for helping their students find success.”

Joanna Shaver has been with Southeast for more than 20 years and with the Office of Academic Advising for three years. She serves as an Academic Advisor II and advises students at the Harrison College of Business and Computing.

 

Samantha Siemers receives her advising AwardOutstanding Faculty Advisor – Dr. Samantha Siemers

Dr. Samantha Siemers is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Agriculture. She has 18 years of industry experience and 10 years of teaching experience. Dr. Siemers advises students in the Animal Science and Agricultural Communication programs.
