Tuition is getting lower for students across the country to attend Southeast Missouri State University this fall. Out-of-state students will now receive in-state tuition as Southeast has moved to one-rate nationwide.
"This is a significant benefit for students choosing Southeast," said Debbie Below, vice president of Enrollment Management and Student Success. "Because of our location, we’re often closer to students from our adjoining states than many of their in-state universities. That proximity, along with more students considering attending college out-of-state, makes one rate easier for students to calculate cost and provides students within our region an affordable way to pursue their degree.
The tuition restructure was approved during the May Board of Governors meeting. The change reduces tuition to just two rates for undergraduate students – one for domestic U.S. students and one for non-domestic students. Students from 46 different states across the nation are currently enrolled at Southeast.
"Southeast provides high-quality education while keeping costs affordable," said Below. "This is another important step in continuing that mission."
Below says one rate nationwide creates clarity on college costs and reduces unnecessary fees and calculations for students coming from out-of-state, often seeking the University’s high quality programs. At Southeast, 80% of programs have earned the highest level of national accreditation possible, assuring students they will be career ready when they graduate.
The same pricing model will apply to graduate students, with one rate for domestic and one rate for non-domestic students. Southeast moved to one nationwide rate for online students in 2022. Cost information is available at semo.edu/sfs.
Southeast’s undergraduate application with guaranteed scholarship consideration are due by Dec. 1, 2023 for fall 2024.
