Southeast Missouri State University’s Dr. Lea Anne Lambert received the Ohio Valley Conference’s (OVC) Outstanding Faculty Commitment to Student Success Award in its inaugural year.
Dr. Lea Anne Lambert is an instructor in the Department of Kinesiology, Nutrition, and Recreation (KNR) and has been at Southeast since 2012. Lambert provides additional resources outside of her time in the classroom for Southeast student-athletes, including providing healthy snacks and conducting nutrition counseling sessions.
“Dr. Lambert has a passion for educating people about the importance of proper nutrition and leading them to live healthier lives,” said Dr. Carlos Vargas, president of Southeast. “She has made significant contributions to our student-athletes’ success and is well deserving of being recognized.”
Lambert has also made several professional presentations on effective sports nutrition and has successfully received grant funding for research. She’s an active community member, serving on the board for several Cape Girardeau area organizations.
The OVC created the award with the provosts from each member institution to recognize outstanding faculty at each school. The recipients were announced at the 2023 OVC Basketball Championship, with awards sent to each school to honor the winners on their individual campuses.
Each school nominated a faculty member with the rank of associate or full-time professor who has been at the instiution for at least five years. The nominations were accompanied by letters of recommendation that noted the faculty member’s contributions to the department, impact on students, university and curriculum development, professional development, community involvement and institutional service.
Dr. Lambert was presented the honor at the SEMO Redhawks annual “HAWKSPYs” awards ceremony on Monday, May 1.
