Campus Utility Outages May 14 - 16

Facilities Management will be conducting multiple utility outages Sunday, May 14 through Tuesday, May 16, 2023.  

Domestic Water Outage

The domestic water to central campus will be shut down at 6 a.m. on Sunday, May 14.  It is anticipated that water will be fully restored at 7:30 a.m., Monday, May 15, 2023.
Buildings affected include:
Academic Hall
Carnahan Hall
Brandt Hall
Magill Hall
Rhodes Hall
Johnson Hall
Polytech Building
All Group Housing Buildings
Rosengarten Athletic Complex
Boiler Plant
Scully Building
Serena Building

Power Outage

On Sunday, May 14, 2023 campus power will be shut down at 7 a.m. to conduct routine maintenance and test emergency generator operations.  It is anticipated that power will be restored at 3:30 p.m.
With this power outage, other utilities will be affected, including fire alarms, lighting, electric receptacles, LAN internet, and WiFi.  
All elevators for the buildings affected by this outage will be out of service from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, May 14.
It is recommended that all departments backup their computer information, data, projects, and research prior to this power outage.

Steam Outage

The steam boilers will be shut down at 8 p.m. on Saturday, May 13, 2023.  They will remain offline during the power outage and then brought back online after the outage is completed.  It is anticipated that steam, building HVAC heating, and the domestic hot water will be offline for a 24-hour period on Sunday, May 14.
The South side of campus (Academic, Memorial, Carnahan, Serena, University Center, Kent Library, Grauel, Myers, Vandiver, Merick, Houck) steam supply will remain offline through Monday, May 15 and Tuesday, May 16 due to work associated with the tunnel renovation project.
The following buildings will not be affected by any of these outages and the utilities serving those buildings will remain in normal working condition:
River Campus - including the Cultural Arts Center, Seminary Building, and Kenneth and Jeanine Dobbins River Campus Center
River Campus Arts Annex and Complex – 340 S. Frederick Street
River Campus Marching Band Annex
Catapult Creative House
Rust Center for Media
Department of Public Safety
Greek Village Buildings
International Village Buildings
Wildwood
Jane Stephens Honors House
Holcomb Success Center
Donald C. Greene Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship
