Drawing, Painting, a Book Group, Paper Sculpture, and Mini Figure Painting Among Activities at the Rosemary Berkel and Harry L. Crisp Museum in July.
Drawing Classes are offered on Tuesdays, July 5-26. Learn to notice connecting points, determine shapes, edges, value changes, and transitions. Techniques to make texture, correct symmetry, and achieve proper proportion with the negative space will be shown. The use of toned paper with a light and dark pencil or chalk will be demonstrated. Practice is expected between classes.
Mix and Paint with Oils is offered on Wednesdays, July 6-27. This is a starting point to learn painting in person in a small group setting. Learn to mix most of the colors you would desire in order to create a painting.
Drawing and painting classes require preregistration and $40 fee. Supplies are provided and seating is limited. Choose your session:
- 10-10:50 a.m. / ages 5-7
- 11-11:50 a.m. / ages 8-10
- 12-12:50 p.m. / ages 11-17
- 2-4 p.m. / adults
Blood and Honor: The Life and Times of Fur Trader Pierre-Louis de Lorimier by Robert Kuck II will be held at 6 p.m. each Thursday. Preregistration and book purchase is required. Blood and Honor takes you to the frontier of North America in the 1700s. There you will witness events through the eyes of French fur trader Pierre-Louis de Lorimier. This is the first novel about his colorful life–from his birth near Montreal, Canada, in 1748, to his death in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, in 1812.

Construction of My World is free for all ages as a drop-in activity between 1 and 4 p.m., on both July 9 and 10. You can create a 3D environment with construction paper in fun ways. Paper can curl, twist, fold, flip, turn, and even be like a floppy spring. Learn fun techniques with bright papers and create your own wonderful world.
Paint Mini Figures is free for all ages as a drop-in activity between 1 and 4 p.m., on both July 16 and 17. Participants will paint two role-play game (RPG) mini figures. Supplies are provided.
Crisp Museum is located in the Cultural Arts Center at Southeast Missouri State University’s River Campus, 518 S. Fountain St. in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
