Facilities Management to Conduct Main Campus Electrical and Steam Outage on May 15

Facilities Management will conduct a full campus power and steam outage on Sunday, May 15.

Image of the Southeast campus at night.The power will be shut down at 7 a.m. to conduct routine maintenance and test emergency generator operations. It is anticipated that power will be restored at 3:30 p.m.

The steam boilers will be shut down at 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 14. They will remain offline during the power outage and then brought back online after the outage is completed. It is anticipated that steam, building HVAC heating and the domestic hot water will be offline for a 24-hour period on Sunday, May 15. 

With this outage, other utilities may be affected in certain buildings, including fire alarms, lighting, electric receptacles, LAN internet and Wi-Fi. 

All elevators for the buildings affected by this outage will be out of service from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, May 15.

It is recommended that all departments backup their computer information, data, projects and research prior to this power outage. 

The following buildings will not be affected by this outage and the utilities serving those buildings will remain in normal working condition:

  • River Campus – including the Cultural Arts Center, Seminary Building, and Kenneth and Jeanine Dobbins River Campus Center
  • River Campus Arts Annex and Complex (340 S. Frederick St.)
  • River Campus Marching Band Annex
  • Catapult Creative House
  • Rust Center for Media
  • Department of Public Safety
  • Greek Village
  • International Village
  • Wildwood
  • Jane Stephens Honors House
  • Holcomb Success Center
  • Donald C. Greene Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship
  • Aleen Vogel Wehking Alumni Center
  • Pacific Hall
  • Center for Speech and Hearing
  • Facilities Management Service Center
  • Abe Stuber Track and Field Complex
  • Redhawks Tennis Complex
  • Recreation Services' Sprigg and Bertling Intramural Fields
  • Athletics Administration Office (1209 Broadway)
