Sign-up for Nutrition Counseling with an Undergraduate Dietetic Student

  • Newswire

Nutrition counseling sessions are now available for faculty and staff. Sessions are conducted by undergraduate students pursuing a nutrition degree on their path to becoming a registered dietitian nutritionist.

The initial session will last about 45 minutes, with a 15- to-30-minute follow-up session. Sessions will be recorded in Zoom for later critique of the students’ counseling skills.

Student counselors will contact interested volunteers to set-up a date and time for sessions. The first session should occur in late March with the follow-up session in late April.

Students will use this experience to prepare for future professional practice. Because the exercise is conducted by students, volunteers should not be following a special physician-recommended diet. Participants will need to complete a three-day food record and a nutrition history form which your student counselor will send to you. These forms will aid your nutrition counselor throughout the session to give you personalized feedback.

To sign up, contact Dr. Amy Moore, assistant professor of kinesiology, nutrition and recreation, at armoore@semo.edu.
