Ten Southeast Missouri State University senior students have been named finalists of the 2021 Man and Woman of the Year competition.
The Man and Woman of the Year award recognizes outstanding student leaders at Southeast. Candidates for the award are sponsored, i.e. nominated, by a University student organization. The winners are selected based on their academic achievement, campus involvement and service to the community.
The 2021 winners will be announced during Southeast’s Homecoming football game on Oct. 30.
This year’s Woman of the Year finalists are:
- Anna Carpenter from Shelbina, Mo., and sponsored by the Student Government Association
- Madelyn Johnson from East Prairie, Mo., and sponsored by the National Student Speech, Language and Hearing Association (NSSLHA)
- Kylie Noe from Sikeston, Mo., and sponsored by Alpha Delta Pi sorority
- Morgahn Petersen from Woodlawn, Ill., and sponsored by Alpha Phi sorority
- Grace Powderly from Cape Girardeau, and sponsored by Southeast’s women’s tennis team
This year’s Man of the Year finalists are:
- Garion Beatty from Steelville, Mo., and sponsored by Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity
- Reed Carlson from Springfield, Ill., and sponsored by Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity
- Nolan Knupp from Jonesboro, Ill., and sponsored by the Student Government Association
- Logan Phillips from Hillsboro, Mo., and sponsored by Sigma Nu fraternity
- Samuel Wright from Jackson, Mo., and sponsored by Phi Delta Theta fraternity
