Southeast students Gemma Welch, Roshell Tauro, Abby Wolf; Faith Andras, of a missionary with Fellowship of Catholic University Students (FOCUS); and Southeast students Maria Doherty and Madison Smith, all with Southeast's Catholic Campus Ministry, will spend their spring break in New York City to work with the Sisters of Life, ministering to pregnant women in need.[/caption]Southeast Missouri State University students involved with Catholic Campus Ministry (CCM), SEMO Lighthouse and the Baptist Student Center will spend their spring break, March 11-15, serving others.Five students with Southeasts Catholic Campus Ministry (CCM) are heading to New York City to work with the Sisters of Life, ministering to pregnant women in need.I think the Sisters of Life are really inspiring, and Im looking forward to living out their mission with them and with my fellow Southeast students, said Madison Smith, a CCM student going to New York City.Their trip is an opportunity to make a positive impact on a community in need and to learn how to continue that mission in their local communities and on campus.Even if just small tasks or a small gesture, helping can mean something bigger than it may seem, Smith said.For students staying closer to campus during Spring Break, six SEMO Lighthouse students will travel to Kansas City, Missouri, to conduct spiritual surveys and evangelism training with the Missouri Baptist Conventions Collegiate Impact Team at the University of Missouri-Kansas City.In addition, 12 students with the Baptist Student Center (BSC) will participate in a day-long mission trip to work with the Bosnian Food Mission in south St. Louis.The trip continues the BSCs 12-year tradition of working with the Food Mission, which is dedicated to serving refugees and immigrants in the St. Louis area.Our group will make sure they have enough volunteers to help unload and pack food, and to distribute food boxes to almost 150 families, said Bruce Gentry, BSC advisor.This is great multi-cultural experience, and our students always have a great and meaningful time helping out this community.Other Southeast students are reaching out to those in need outside our borders.Southeast CCM student Jacob Gillick is taking a global plunge to make a positive impact on members of St. Margaret Ward Catholic Academy in Stoke-on-Trent, England. Gillick will join 11 other students from across the United States to share their faith and hope with the Academys parishioners.Meanwhile, five students with SEMO Lighthouse will volunteer with the North American Mission Boards Southern Baptist Convention mission in Edmonton, Canada, assisting local churches in providing resources and help to individuals seeking spiritual guidance.
