From hands-on to high-tech. A mechanical applications option teaches you to work across teams, refining and testing applications to provide support and expertise.
The engineering physics program is an ABET-EAC-accredited program in general engineering. Students acquire a deep knowledge of physical and mathematical principles and how to apply that knowledge to solve society’s problems. The mechanical applications option provides a core foundation in mechanics and engineering mechanics.
The interdisciplinary nature of the mechanical engineering physics program means you can work in diversified fields and adapt your skills. The engineering physics program is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, the agency that accredits all engineering programs in the U.S., so you know the curriculum and faculty are of high quality.
At Southeast, a mechanical engineering physics degree prepares you for a career because we ensure you have experience on your resume before you even graduate. As a mechanical applications major in engineering physics, you’ll be equipped to work in many industries. Faculty will help you develop the skills needed for a competitive job market. You’ll complete a minimum of 120 credit hours to complete this degree, including the general education requirements and at least 39 senior division hours.
A grade of ‘C’ or better is required in each course that is a prerequisite course.
This sequence of mathematics courses constitutes a minor, but it must be declared.
A high school student interested in majoring in engineering physics should complete four years of mathematics that include trigonometry and an introduction to calculus. Four years of science, which include both chemistry and physics is highly recommended. A strong background in English is essential.
Some requirements may be fulfilled by coursework in major program.
*Many major courses are on a set rotation and dependent on when prerequisites are completed. The actual semester a course is taken may vary based on the rotation.
(Summer courses are encouraged to avoid 18-hour semesters.)
The Engineering Physics (Bachelor of Science) Program is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET.
