Flexibility and service in one career.
Pre-Optometry is not a major at Southeast Missouri State University, but students can prepare for optometry school while pursuing any academic major. Many students choose the Biology: Biomedical Sciences option because its coursework provides preparation for the science requirements of optometry school and the Optometry Admission Test (OAT).
The Biology: Biomedical Sciences option is designed for students preparing for careers in the health professions. Students pursuing a pre-optometry path can build a strong foundation in the biological sciences while completing coursework that supports their preparation for optometry school and the OAT.
Students can also work with an advisor to plan their undergraduate coursework around the requirements of their intended optometry program.
