Individuals with a degree in agricultural education are well qualified and in high demand throughout the agricultural sector. Career opportunities that are consistently available to graduates exist in a multitude of areas including secondary (high school) education as ag teachers, corporate training, management, sales, public relations, governmental representatives, non-profit representatives to list a few. Nearly 50% of agricultural education graduates enter a career outside of secondary education within the field of agriculture. In agriculture education courses you will gain a unique skill set to position yourself to take advantage of the shortage of certified agricultural educators throughout the country and the shortage of qualified agriculturalists required by the private and public sectors. As an Agricultural Education major, earn an education that creates opportunities in a multitude of areas including secondary (High School) education, corporate training, management, sales, public relations, and governmental representatives. Students must maintain a 3.0 GPA in both the area of content expertise and pedagogy courses. In addition, students must pass the MO Content Exam and the MO Educator Evaluation System for recommendation for licensure. Students must also complete the minimum of 120 credit hours, completion of the General Education program, and completion of 39 senior division hours (300-599) as required for all students.
A grade of ‘C’ or better is required in education courses, with the exception of ED280 which requires a grade of ‘B’ or better.

To be eligible for enrollment in the majority of courses offered by the Teacher Preparation Program
and required for a teaching degree (BSE, BSFCSE, BME), students must be admitted to the Teacher
Preparation Program (TPP). Students should apply for admission to the TPP upon having met the following entrance criteria:

Milestone: Passing score on MO state assessment, passing score on MEES, 3.0 GPA in content courses and in professional education courses.
