Safety

Southeast takes the safety of our campus community seriously.

Along with standard patrolling, crime investigating, and responding to emergencies the University Police offer services and programs centered around keeping people safe.

    24/7 Department

    SEMO's University Police Department is home to a 24/7 police department. No matter the time of day or night, you will be able to reach our officers when you need them. You can reach them at (573) 651-2215 by phone or email upd@semo.edu.

    Safe Escort

    Officers will provide any member of the University community who is uncomfortable walking on campus an escort to their on-campus destination. This service is available 24/7 by calling (573) 651-2215.

    Whistle Program

    University Police provides all members of the community safety whistles to use in cases of emergency, including summoning help, calling attention to a situation, and/or discouraging a criminal in the midst of an incident. Staff, faculty, and students may obtain a whistle from the University Police Department on campus.

    Adopt-a-Hall

    Officers collaborate with Office of Residence Life staff to provide a safe living environment for students while building community relations and offering educational programs.

Lighted Corridor

From one end of the campus to the other is a lighted corridor lined with Emergency Call Boxes. Pressing the “HELP” button on any of the boxes connects the person in distress with a dispatcher and sends a uniformed police officer to the activated box.

Safety Programs Offered

University Police offer programs year round. A majority of these programs are free, with topics including active shooter training, domestic/dating violence, sexual violence, stalker awareness, alcohol and drug awareness.
Request Programming

Crime Statistics

The University maintains a daily crime log and provides access to past years' crime logs. Daily crime logs include all complaints, incidents and requests for police service received by the University Police Department at Southeast.
