The College Access Partnership Award (CAP-A) is available to first-year students who have participated in a designated College Access Partnership program or Scholarship Organization/Foundation.
Eligibility
- Successful completion of a designated College Access Partner Program or receive funding/scholarship from a designated Foundation or Organization Partner
- A letter of recommendation from the partner program, foundation, or organization
- High school grade point average (GPA) of 2.8 or above
- First-generation college student and/or Pell grant eligible or demonstrated need
- Full admittance to Southeast Missouri State University and full-time enrollment
- Completed Interview
Renewal
- Maintaining a minimum 2.8 cumulative GPA.
- Maintain Full-time enrollment at Southeast
- Remain in compliance with all University policies and procedures
- Complete the requirements of your signed Educational Access Programs contract each year
- A committee may be appointed to review award renewals, reductions and appeals
Value: Range from $500-2,000 per year ($250-1,000 per semester)
Merit Award
MERIT is a performance-based award available to first generation, limited income and/or meritorious students.
Eligibility
- A college or high school grade point average (GPA) of 3.25 or above
- Participation in employment, leadership, and/or community services activities.
- Full admittance to Southeast Missouri State University with a submission of a letter of recommendation.
- Completed Interview
Renewal
- Maintaining a minimum 3.00 cumulative GPA.
- Completion of 30 credit hours per academic year (includes fall, spring, and summer semesters)
- Remain in compliance with all University policies and procedures
- Complete the requirements of your signed Educational Access Programs contract each year
- A committee may be appointed to review award renewals, reductions and appeals
Value: Up to $2,000 per year ($1,000 per semester)
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship
- The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship is awarded to a first-year student at Southeast Missouri State University who is enrolled full-time and has not received a University Merit Scholarship
- Financial need and academic achievement play an important role in the selection process
- Three letters of recommendation must accompany the application. A student initially receives this award for one semester
- The recipient must complete the fall semester with at least 12 credit hours and a 2.75 GPA in order to renew for the spring semester
Dr. Donald M Suggs Scholarship
This award is presented annually to recognize an incoming freshman in the St. Louis area who has demonstrated the potential for academic achievement, leadership, and commitment to their community.
Eligibility
- High School grade point average (GPA) of 3.5 or above
- Full admittance to Southeast Missouri State University
- First generation college student, Pell grant eligible, or demonstrated need
- Letter of recommendation
- Completed Interview
Renewal
- The Dr. Donald M Suggs Scholarship is renewable for three additional academic years with a 3.00 cumulative Southeast GPA and completion of 30 Southeast credit hours annually.
- The funding provided can result in a reduction in loan debt and may be adjusted if combined with the other aid.
- Remain in compliance with all University policies and procedures.
- Must remain active in TRIO and Educational Access Programs events and activities.
Value: Up to full tuition plus $1,000 to cover other educational expenses
