Celebrating Our 150th Anniversary
Continue to main contentSince 1873, Southeast Missouri State University has been providing exceptional educational opportunities and launching extraordinary careers. Our students are driven and committed. And, it's time to celebrate these achievements ... almost.
Next year will mark Southeast Missouri State University’s 150th anniversary. The official anniversary celebration will commence on the institution’s “birthday” March 22, 2023, and run through April 8, 2024, culminating in the next Great American Eclipse where Cape Girardeau is in the center of totality.
President Carlos Vargas has established a sesquicentennial steering committee to plan events commemorating this milestone in University history. We will be reaching out to alumni in the coming months to ask for your memories and reflections of SEMO as we prepare to commemorate this milestone.
Additional information and resources about the celebration will be shared periodically in The Dome. If you have questions or suggestions now, contact editor@semo.edu.
